 Walking in Tours
The Hôtel de L'Univers is located in the city center in front of the Town Hall.
Leaving the hotel, turn right and go towards Tours's station designed by the architect Victor Laloux. Take Bernard Palissy street whose entry is between the Vinci congress center designed by Jean Nouvel and the Tourism Office ("Office de Tourisme").
Then, you will arrive at François Sicard place with the Museum of Fine Arts, in which you will discover a bicentennial cedar of Lebanon and its famous stuffed elephant.
Following your way in direction of the Loire, you will reach the Cathedral of St. Gatien which construction began in the 13th century and was completed in the 16th century. You will get to the Psalette cloister from the cathedral.
Going up Lavoisier street, turn left into Colbert street to discover its restaurants, its typical bars and varied shops. This middle-age street will lead you to St. Julien Church near by Foire-le-Roi place.
A detour is imperative in Scellerie street which has numerous antique dealers and shops without forgetting the Grand Theater built in 1869.
Come back to St. Julien street and take Halles street which will directly lead you to the restored mediaeval area. Walk aimlessly all around the Plumereau place, heart of the night life.
Many special sites are waiting for you (St Martin Basilica, Charlemagne Tower, Clock Tower, the Gemmail Museum, Gallo-roman ruins,...).
Then come back through Commerce street to National street with its numerous shops and go down again until Town Hall place, where you can have a drink.
